In the midst of my wedding excitement, other life continues to go forward. A shocking thought, but true, this: my wedding is not actually the center of the entire known universe! Go figure!
So, here’s a cool note about that: last week, I got to go again to the Global Leadership Summit. If you haven’t heard of it, it is a 2-day event put on annually by Willow Creek church in the Chicago area (South Barrington, to be specific). The event is HELD there at Willow Creek, but there are satellite locations around the world. We participate from Heritage Church right here in Rock Island.
The Global Leadership Summit is not supposed to be just another church worship service. It is open to people of other faiths or no faith at all, with the aim of equipping leaders in all areas. It is a nice recharging environment – not a lot gets said that is brand new, but it is a lot of reminding of what we know and start to forget and neglect and just need refreshing on. There is a lot of encouragement and inspiration. There is plenty of challenge. Generally there is a dose of artistry (don’t even get me STARTED on William Close and his earth harp, and then there was the thing with the paint that left me in a puddle of tears. Great art.)
I got some good lessons and themes from it. Maybe for the next few days I will share with you some of what I soaked up at this year’s summit – will probably start with Colin Powell, definitely gotta hit on Brene Brown, and there’s other good stuff too!
It all starts: tomorrow.
Blessings, all.
