just checking in

I posted over at the naked blog this morning, but that didn’t feel like writing.  It was just answering a question.

But I wrote something for my accountability group at work today that WAS writing, that I am not posting here.  Not everything belongs on the internet.

Tonight I’ve been busy enjoying Shabbat with my guy.  We lit the candles and prayed the blessings and shared grape juice and bread from 183 miles apart, thanks the the wonders of technology.  I’m learning all these cool little things about being Jewish, bit by bit.  It’s a humbling process.  Having grown up in church, I know all the little ins-and-outs of how to do church.  Having never known anyone Jewish until the last few years of my life, I know very little about the terrain we explore as he teaches me.  He is unfailingly patient and in no kind of hurry.  That’s good for me.

So, no more writing tonight.  Shabbat Shalom, my friends.

Glad to hear that you are celebrating Shabbat. Our family has been doing it for several years now. We’ve come to find out, the more we learn and adopt our Savior’s heritage (and our’s if we are seed of Abraham), the more the scriptures open up to us. Shabbat Shalom Karen!

Thanks, Mindy! So nice to see you here. As I read the transliterated Hebrew and then the English translation of the prayers, part of me balks and wonders what the deal is with reading in a language I don’t speak. But part of me already knows that there is a mystical thing God does when I meet Him there in my willingness to just try it anyway.
